SCALING THE MODEL

There are two elements to

think about when it comes

to creating a proper scale

model of the Solar System.

One is the size of the planets themselves

relative to the size of the Sun.

The other is the distance that each planet is

from the Sun.

Once we've worked these out we can apply the same principles to

determine the speed of light, or how far away the nearest star

is from the Earth or even what distance a light year is.

All planetary data are sourced from NASA publications.
